Two of the most popular kinds of overhead cranes are the gantry crane and the EOT, or Electric Overhead Traveling Crane. These are essential for industrial applications where it is frequently necessary to carry huge loads. Specifically for overhead cranes, a parallel runway exists. Between the two poles where the Electric Chain Hoist is mounted, there is a moving bridge. Such an EOT crane is electrically powered. The crane is controlled by a control pendant or an operator cabin. These cranes are very helpful for loading and unloading large, heavy cargo. Additionally, huge goods may need to be moved around an industrial facility.

Use cases for EOT cranes

There are several uses for travelling cranes across numerous sectors. Certain of them are:

Construction Industry, Transport Industry, Power Plant Industry, Chemical Industries, petrochemical Industry, Dairy Businesses, Foundries, Cement industry, and Textile industry.

Various EOT crane types

EOT cranes primarily come in two varieties: single girder EOT and double girder EOT.

Single-girder EOT crane

A trolley and electric chain hoist run along the axis of the single girder EOT crane’s main girder. It only needs one major girder to move between the parallel runways and does not need a rail component. It consists of vertical gearboxes and mounted motors. It is simple to control using a radio remote control or a push-button pendant station. These Electric Overhead Traveling cranes limits the upward and downward movement of the hoist using a snap action limit switch. It has a four-wheel configuration in the end carriage. These cranes are typically used to handle less to medium-sized loads. Single girder crane is used mostly for brief work periods and is lighter than double girder EOT crane.

Double-girder EOT crane

The trolleys and hoists on the two girders run parallel to the axis of the beam. Either or Both sides of these cranes are platforms. It contains a travelling mechanism that resembles a crab that runs along both girders. These are typically utilized for maintenance needs. It consists of horizontal gearboxes and foot-mounted motors. In contrast to the single girder, which cannot be operated by the cabin, it can be operated by the radio remote control, the push-button pendant, and the operator cabin. There are two different sorts of limit switches in this kind of EOT crane. One is the rotary limit switch, which regulates the rope drum movements both upward and downward and is used to calculate how much the hook will travel. In order to ensure the safety, it also features a second safety switch known as the gravity limit switch. The four or eight-wheel configuration of the double girder crane is simple to maintain.

Conclusion

EOT cranes outperform other kinds of overhead cranes in terms of dependability, safety, and productivity. Therefore, it becomes imperative to have your cranes evaluated on a regular basis.
